Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of the main product and ancillary tasks? The combination of our ancillary products and our music video is very effective as we have used the same scene throughout the entire thing. We decided we wanted to have the main character sitting in front of the fire to be the signature scene of the music video and we wanted to incorporate that into our magazine advert and digipak. This is because it’s a very memorable moment in the music video for the character and it represents what the whole song is about and the theme. It also links to the title of our song and we wanted to emphasise the title with the imagery as much as possible so having the picture of the main character sitting in front of the fire as our main image works well as a combination with the song and its title.  The music video links well with the digipak because the digipak takes you through the morning to the night which is the story of the video because in the early hours the main c

Getting audience feedback is essential for improving our media product. During the making of our video we asked for feedback on many occasions to ensure that we could on the four rough cuts that we had completed. In comparison to the first rough cut you can clearly see that our video has improved and this is for multiple reasons although one of the main reasons for this was because of all the helpful feedback we had collected. We started off by showing our rough cut to around 20 16 year olds and this was a good idea because that age group is our target audience and getting feedback from our target audience was the best thing to do because we are hearing helpful criticism from the people we are actually trying to sell our product to. This helped us massively because it showed us what we had to improve on and gave us a clear understanding of that. There were things such as having a variety of shots and locations in order to keep the video and interesting which was essential because if we

Plans for Magazine Advert

I like this one because of the connotations of the bonfire in the middle of the page with the smoke going through the lettering. It links the title of the song with the bonfire which is connoting the relationship of the couple who's relationship is the fire and its being burnt until there is nothing left. The lettering is pretty basic which is okay for indie music but i would have preferred to make something thats rougher and looks gritty in comparison to this font which is fairly sharp and not really that exciting or relating to the genre. I did like how the name of the band was in the middle and the title of the song surrounded the band name which i think is something that could be added to our final magazine advert because when the band name is in the middle its the first thing someone sees and it will intrigue them and make them interested especially if they are long term fans of the band.  I like the lettering on this one because it pretty much resembles the Bastille logo w

Plans for digipack

For the digipak we may want consider that we have to relate the images and other things to the actual music video we've made otherwise there will be no link to the music video and promotional items and that will mean less marks. The things that work in this digipak is the images of the flames and the bonfire on the front cover, this is because it relates a lot to our music video which is 'things we lost in the fire' so it has connotations of the title but also links to the meaning of our music video which is a 'burning' relationship and we are having real fires in the music video to symbolise the relationship. I also like how i put the artists names on the back of the album cover in order for newer fans to get to know the band and know the names if they wanted to. Im not sure the font works too well because it doesnt look indie enough for the band which are heavily indie. For this digipak i really like the font thats being used, this is because it looks almost

Why we are re-making a music video

Image
At the beginning of the year we were asked to recreate a music video which was Justin Timberlake's 'Cant Stop The Feeling'. We were put into groups and we asked to recreate a small segment of the music and then the whole music video would come together with each groups segment. The thing we learned from this was how to recreate a music video and look at specific things from the video and we had to work together as a team in order to be able to re create them perfectly. It taught us how music videos worked and it will prepare us for when we make our final one which is good because we will have experience before we've even done it so we can make our final video as good as it can possibly be. I think it will help when making our music video because it gives us experience in the making of music videos that we need for our final video and it also helps us to be able to understand how music videos are made and what it takes in order for a successful one to be made.
