Analysis of Ancillary Products 2

This digipak is very interesting because there are a lot of mysterious imagery on here that gets the audience thinking a lot. The car on the front looks quite old and beaten up which fits to the genres generic conventions so when people who like this specific genre see this album cover it will encourage them and make them want to give the album a chance because the images are appealing to them. The image on the back is intriguing because the people almost look as if they are silhouettes so it looks very mysterious and gets the audience thinking and asking questions such as 'who are these people and what relevance do they have to the band or the album?'. Having things like this encourage the audience to use their imagination more which sparks more curiosity which can help them to buy the album. Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of the main product and ancillary tasks? The combination of our ancillary products and our music video is very effective as we have used the same scene throughout the entire thing. We decided we wanted to have the main character sitting in front of the fire to be the signature scene of the music video and we wanted to incorporate that into our magazine advert and digipak. This is because it’s a very memorable moment in the music video for the character and it represents what the whole song is about and the theme. It also links to the title of our song and we wanted to emphasise the title with the imagery as much as possible so having the picture of the main character sitting in front of the fire as our main image works well as a combination with the song and its title.  The music video links well with the digipak because the digipak takes you through the morning to the night which is the story of the video because in the early hours the ma...

Initial Ideas

At first i thought it would be a good idea to do a rap song, although when analysing a lot of rap songs we saw most of the general conventions were expensive cars, expensive jewellery and expensive clothing. We had none of those nor could we get any of that before the filming date. So we decided to look at something else and ended up having a look at Bastille. The song we decided to do was 'Things we lost in the fire' and we liked this because there are a lot of things we could create in the music video that would have good connotations and it was easy to construct a good story from. It also worked in our favour because we had a lot to work with in terms of making the digipak and making the magazine advert. The advertisement that Bastille had already done for this song was some good inspiration for us and it was also something very simple but had a lot of meaning, this is something we want to do with our digipak and magazine advert because less is more with things like this. ...
