Analysis of Ancillary Products 2

This digipak is very interesting because there are a lot of mysterious imagery on here that gets the audience thinking a lot. The car on the front looks quite old and beaten up which fits to the genres generic conventions so when people who like this specific genre see this album cover it will encourage them and make them want to give the album a chance because the images are appealing to them. The image on the back is intriguing because the people almost look as if they are silhouettes so it looks very mysterious and gets the audience thinking and asking questions such as 'who are these people and what relevance do they have to the band or the album?'. Having things like this encourage the audience to use their imagination more which sparks more curiosity which can help them to buy the album. It also links to the genre because a generic convention of the indie rock genre is that they tend to have heavily narrative based music videos and imagery. I like the font style because it's Bastille's signature font which can intrigue the bigger fans and encourage them to buy the album along with people who are new but it mostly appeals to the bigger fans because they will recognise it from previous artwork and previous album covers.

The car image on here is a reoccurring image throughout the album so it must have some sort of importance to the audience of the band. There may be a story behind it or there may be a deeper connotation. It would make the audience's imagination widen because it would make them ask questions such as 'who's blood is this and how did they get into this sort of situation' which is where the music videos could come into play with telling a story. The album cover could have hints to what the story is about and then the story could be told in the music videos but the band want their fans to get thinking before they release the music videos. There are a lot of deep meanings and connotations towards things in the album cover and imagery which is a generic convention of the genre which is good in drawing fans of the genre in and getting them to buy the album. I like how the CD is very dark in comparison to the rest of the imagery and colours throughout the album and i think they have done this in order for the CD to stand out from everything and make it the first thing that the audience see when they open up the case and of course it has their signature font on the CD which keeps embedding that font in the audiences head which will prepare them next time to find when Bastille release something.

This will help when making our product because we can take ideas from this such as the deep connotations and meanings and put it onto our product in order to appeal to the fans of  the similar genre. The different aspects of this will help us because if we add similar things it will make our album look as much like an indie rock album as much as possible.
