Research into chosen artist

Bastille are a british indie rock band that formed in 2010. The name of the band comes from 'Bastille day' which is the French national day and is one the same day as the bands lead singer Dan Smith. After releasing singles and a debut ep they were eventually signed by Virgin records and released their debut album 'Bad Blood' in 2013. The band has been nominated for four Brit awards and as of November 2014 they've sold more than 5 million records in the USA and 2.5 million in the United Kingdom. They then released their second studio album 'Wild World' in 2016.

From having a look at their album covers, i can see that all of them seem to look fairly similar, they all have the same font and include fairly similar images such as a person standing or a shot of a city. although their album covers look fairly similar, it could be making them look original by creating their own aesthetic and style because they've used it for so long, so if anyone were to do something similar they might be considered to be copying the band because the artist have been using this since they started.

After having a look at Bastille's music videos. I have noticed that their videos seem to have the same sort of locations such as urban cities and deserts. This could be to maintain their aesthetic by having the same locations or their could be a bigger meaning behind it all.

This will help when making our music video because we now have a better idea of what the artists style is like which we can use for ideas and inspiration for our own music video. It also helps to know about the artist when making the music video because you can see what generic conventions that artists have themselves.
